2027 Recruitment Planning Begins With Trip to Manchester Met University
The new academic year may only just be getting underway, but preparations for 2027–28 recruitment have already begun.
Last week, Harry Newton, Director of Sporting Solutions, and Shaun Perry, Placement Manager at The Student Sport Company, visited Manchester Metropolitan University to meet with the team and discuss their student-athlete recruitment needs for the year ahead.
The visit forms part of our ongoing work through The Student Sport Company, connecting universities with prospective student-athletes and supporting recruitment based on the specific requirements of each institution and sports programme.
Preparing for 2027 Recruitment
Universities across the UK are already looking ahead to 2027, identifying recruitment priorities and the areas in which they want to strengthen their sporting programmes.
Being on campus and speaking directly with university staff and coaches is an important part of this process. Through The Student Sport Company, we can better understand each university’s recruitment requirements, sporting environment and the opportunities available to prospective students.
On Thursday 3rd September, Harry and Shaun met with the team at Manchester Metropolitan University, strengthening our ongoing relationship and looking ahead to the year of recruitment ahead.
These conversations, supported by regular communication throughout the recruitment cycle, give our team a clear understanding of what each university is looking for. This allows us to accurately represent their programmes to student-athletes around the world and make more relevant introductions as 2027 recruitment develops.

Recruitment in the UK and Overseas
While our team continues to work closely with universities across the UK, our international activity ensures we are also reaching prospective students, schools and counsellors in key markets overseas.
Recent activity has included international school visits in Dubai, where our team met with counsellors to discuss UK university sport and share new resources designed to help students better understand the pathway.
